I got my copy of 's Empowered volume 1 in from Amazon recently.
Must say this: PICK IT UP!

"Empowered" (the heroine) is amazingly cute, bubbly and always picks herself back up. The thing I like most about her is that I can relate (other than I'm not really physically cute...).

Her powers include Super Strength, Laser Beams, (VERY Limited) Invulnerability, the seemingly useless (but very sexy) ability to turn her suit invisible, and Uuber Booty. She doesn't consider Uuber Booty a superpower, but it DID save her life once.
All of her powers are stripped quite literally from her by ripping or tearing her super-easily torn suit. The suit regenerates, but that takes several hours, sadly.

Ironically, though she finds herself bound and gagged basically through the whole book, this is how she meets her thug/former "Witless Minion" boyfriend and Ninja Princess best friend aptly named "Ninjette".
She also uses alien bondage gear to capture an extremely powerful Supervill "Demonwolf" which had put all the other SuperHomeys out of commission. After which, he watches old TV show DVDs to pass time and makes hilarious comments on pretty much everything that goes on in Emp's domicile.

It is incredible how Mr. Warren masterfully dodges using the names for the majority of the book, with the exceptions of the "SuperHomeys" (the group of superheroes with whom Emp is associated.) and the "Supervills". Ninjette is named from time to time too... but she's got her name across her cute lil' bum all the time so it's not a very "dodgy" situation.

The Superhomeys often pick on Emp for being so easily deprived of her super-abilities, but that is what makes her so lovable. Not that her suit gets shredded, but that it makes her more human than even Spider-Man.

On the whole, I give Empowered 1 a 5/5 rating.
